Description and/or Review:
MEMBER REVIEW: This 2009 National Geographic program uses mostly computer animation and some actual footage to explore the ocean depths. Narrated by Avery Brooks it moves a bit slwoly, but you see black smokers, the ocean ridges, spend time around Hawaii, and in the Bahamas. You end up in the deepest part of the ocean, but life is still there. It is well worth seeing. The bonus feature Into the Depths, shows a dive in the Celebes Sea, in the coral triangle, between Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia, a place of incredible biodiversity. It also was isolated from the rest of the ocean during the ice ages, and allowed species to diversify. This is all real video, colorful and beautiful. They find new species, a giant trash yard, and many interesting animals. This DVD is well worth watching more than once. Description: This is a world you have never seen before - a world normally hidden under miles of water, the ocean floor. We will remove the water using CGI animation, revealing a landscape of unimaginable scale with features more dramatic than anything on dry land.
